Mechanical

Two Weeks

In only two weeks of riding my bike and not smoking, my resting heart rate has dropped 15 beats per minute. Yowza! I always knew it was bad, hovering the low 80s (go, hummingbird, go!), but I'm surprised at how quickly it appears to be back under control.

Congrats :)
Amazing how the body responds to some positive feedback, isn't it? I remember that feeling when I started running way back when. A lot of people I think don't realize that, or don't want to take the time to improve their health.

Glad to hear it's working out for you :) How far have you been riding thus far?
Re: Congrats :)
Note sure how far I've been riding. I used to ride 25 miles every day, but that was years ago. Now I ride home from work and that takes about 40 to 45 minutes (30 if I push it), but that's riding through traffic, so it doesn't count. Sometimes I just go on long two-hour bike rides on the weekends. It's very relaxing and the only way I've ever been able to consistently exercise (except for a long period where I studied kick boxing, but that was also years ago :)
Kudos to you! I quit smoking about 5 years ago, and it was the best thing I've ever done. Although I didn't have much fun the first week or so of not smoking - headaches, stuffy head, the dreams I would have about smoking...
Wow. That is inspiring. I've been trying to get myself back in gear about bike commuting. I think hearing how quickly you saw results may be just the trigger I needed. Thanks for the reminder -- and congrats for sticking with it!
Hi,

I found you on makeafriend, and would like to add you if that's ok?

You seem quite different to me, which is what I'm after. By all means have a look at my journal (friends only, but there are also public posts) first.

If you do want to add me, then please read/participate/invest, and I'll do thae same

:)

Thanks.
