DC Scuttlebutt

Apparently the rumor in DC is that there may be a GOP-related resignation coming down the pike tomorrow. Of course, this is highly speculative and DC is famous for "rumors", but there could be some serious GOP woes in the future. If this comes to pass, remember you heard it hear first!

If it doesn't come to pass, let's just forget this entry, shall we? :)

rumor has it that cheney's on his way out, and that condi will take over as vp.

that's scary.
This sounds like it's out of left field. On the other hand, I don't know what was discussed in the grand jury. My guess was Libby or Rove (probably Libby), but I knew that Cheney was taking some heat. Wonder if he'll have more health problems tomorrow?
except that this could be another ruse to sway attention away from the supreme court.

some high placed "source" drops a rumor about a resignation -- spin it up to cheney, and you have attention refocused. real resignation, if there is one, is a fairly low level person, and attention is once again focused on how great of a job the bush administration did at cleaning up the terrorists out of the whitehouse.

or, maybe i'm just cynical :)
don't you mean chimp?1

separated at birth:

1. technically, a gorilla, but the joke just wouldn't have had quite the zing2
2. according to wikipedia, "A slang interjection which can be shouted out after a particularly fine insult"
This is from Larry Johnson's blog No Quarter:

"Had lunch today with a person who has a direct tie to one of the folks facing indictment in the Plame affair. There are 22 files that Fitzgerald is looking at for potential indictment . These include Stephen Hadley, Karl Rove, Lewis Libby, Dick Cheney, and Mary Matalin (there are others of course). Hadley has told friends he expects to be indicted. No wonder folks are nervous at the White House."
....and behold! We have hurricane potentially stealing all media attention!

Yeah, first the White House creates resignation rumors to distract people from the Miers nomination and now they've had their mad scientists create a hurricane. How Machiavellian.
