No, not violent TV. I'm talkin' Al Gore here. After Gore won the popular vote in 2000 and then lost Florida under curious circumstances and finally watched the Supremes throw the presidency to the idiot king, Gore dropped out of sight for a while. When he came back, he was a sharp critic of the Democratic party and, I thought, started to look really interesting. Before, I was lukewarm about him. Lately, he started to actually have feelings and show some passion. Somehow, the stick in his bum had gotten dislodged.
This is why I was excited to hear about Al Gore backing a new TV network. Then I read this quote from him:
We are about empowering this generation of young people in their 20s, the 18 to 34 population, to engage in a dialogue of democracy and to tell their stories about what's going in their lives in the dominant media of our time.
Empowering? Engaging in dialogue?
Right. Gore's back. New stick, too.
