No Profanity: Day 1, Day 1, Day 1, Day 2, Day 1

Ever since I decided to stop using profanity, I found myself failing every day. I had to start with "Day 1" three days in a row. Today I finally made it to "Day 2". Heading to a pub with a friend, I let profanity slip again. It was an innocuous conversation about an incident back in the States, but I slipped up nonetheless.

Tomorrow is Day 1 for the fourth time in five days. I knew it would be hard, but not this hard.
It always helps me, when trying to make or break a regular habit, to find some numerical series to use as a basis (no joke). So of course the first thing I thought of when reading of your challenge was to identify some series that fits the 1, 1, 1, 2, 1 ... pattern. No dice. But maybe tomorrow you could start anew with the Fibonacci sequence as your guide. At any rate, good luck.
Putting 1, 1, 1, 2, 1 into the Online Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences turns this up:

http://www.research.att.com/~njas/sequences/A000001

(It's a great website - I really love listening to how the sequences sound wrapped around a regular piano keyboard :) sadly this one's not too interesting)

So in 11 more attempts you will last a fortnight and in a mere 27 you will almost reach the two month mark ... ;)

Nice! I was pretty certain that some kind of database existed for sequences, but was too lazy to really look. Thank you for this.
umm
George Carlin does not approve! can you at least read swears??? muthafucka LOL
The only way I know of that stops swearing is duct tape.

Of course, when you remove the tape it all starts up again...
(Escpecially if you have facial hair... )
Profanity is the true gift of the Anglo Saxons
Profanity is too often misused. It's a placeholder. Lew Black calls a certain F-word his "comma." However, skillful use of profanity is hard. Scarcity is the key to it.

If you eliminate the wasteful uses of profanity, I think you'll be much happier.

I'd stop swearing, but the words are too much fun to lose.
You're struggling with a self-imposed and unnecessary reason for self-flogging. Self-control is a mechanism for punishment and suffering, and I hate seeing my friends suffer. Diets, piety, fundamentalism: all of it is crap crap CRAP. Let it go.

Being aware of it is good enough. Not swearing mindlessly is probably a good thing: it will make the swearing you do more effective. But this has become an unnecessary way to just beat yourself up over nothing.
